Hi, I’m Roxy! If you’ve been to a Funny Women Amsterdam show, you’ve probably seen me scanning tickets and asking you to sit in the front row— it has the best view!

I love three things: my dog Micey, comedy, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome. That’s exactly why I run Funny Women Amsterdam—a show dedicated to giving female comedians the stage time they deserve.

Why Funny Women Amsterdam Exists

When I started attending open mics and comedy nights, I noticed a consistent pattern: line-ups were predominantly male, and if there was a woman performing, she was often the only one. This wasn’t because women aren’t funny (spoiler: we are hilarious!), but due to the many barriers that exist in the comedy world.

In 2019, I teamed up with Funny Women to launch the first International Funny Women Open Mic. Since 2002, Funny Women has been fostering a vibrant, collaborative community for women in comedy, and I knew Amsterdam needed the same kind of space.

And so, Funny Women Amsterdam was born. Our mission? To provide female-presenting comedians with a stage. Since then, we’ve been hosting shows where women can own the mic, take risks, and develop their comedic voices—without feeling as though they have to prove themselves just because of their gender.

Why Representation in Comedy Matters

I’ve seen so many talented women second-guess themselves before stepping on stage, while their male counterparts jump in without hesitation. We exist to change that dynamic.
